Time for CM Punk to Hang It UP

Are we doing this again? Are we really going to sit in front of the television set and wait again? Wait for the "Cult of Personality" guitar riff to hit again? Wait for the grazing across the ground and the rebellious Hulk yell of "It's Clobbering Time!" And yes, even wait for the biggest Straight Edge fan of all times to break down in tears and show his emotions to his favorite wrestler?? Yall can, I'm quite over it. And that's saying a lot coming from a big CM Punk fan. Oh yeah, this here about CM Punk. How many times can the same man with the same persona come back? How many times are we gonna let him? I understand the dude is money for the most part, but are we gonna let him destroy AEW from the inside out on some Kevin Nash/Scott Hall/Hogan/Kliq type shit? I don't like this Kanye. I want the old Kanye back. And just like the great Shawn Carter said, "Niggas want my old shit, buy my old album!" I hear you, Hov. So here's Punk's old shit.

Back in 2011, Punk had one of the best matches of all times, in both storytelling and action, against the great John Cena. The storyline was reminiscent of the infamous Montreal Screwjob where CM Punk's contract was up the same night as the Money in the Bank PPV they were to perform at. Vince not wanting Punk to leave the company with the championship pressed Cena to make sure Cool Money fails. Cena is ever much a company guy, but he's not a cheater. And because of that, Cena took the loss that night in a great upset and an even greater "What the hell is gonna happen now"? Of course Chick Magnet resigns and the rest with him and WWE is history. But now this guy is making new history because he chooses to make wrestling real again! It's not, Punk.

Dude fell out with the Bucks and Hangman, probs the coolest people you can hang out with, over some wrestling words used to help sell the PPV. In turn he almost flipped AEW into WCW and lost a lot of his fans. Me included. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to see the storylines and matches he's gonna be put into, but the mystique and adoration is gone. AEW is an up and coming wrestling organization built from the ground up, grassroots if you will. And he wants to come in and stir up the pot and make it into a cauldron. Naw homes. Either you do it Tony Khan's way or go back to WW...nvm. We all know the answer to that. So I guess I'll go back and watch this match, John Cena vs. CM Punk for the WWE Championship at Money in the Bank 2011. And to hit home how much we all used to love Punk, listen the the crowd reaction when Cena is announced in Punk's hometown of Chicago. Yeah doggies, I think this the Punk I like to remember.
